Dominique Lanham, 30, of Bellefontaine, was arrested early Saturday, April 6, after a traffic stop in the area of the 800 block of south Main Street, and subsequent domestic dispute at his residence.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report that Lanham was traveling southbound on Main Street at a high-rate of speed, crossed over the double yellow line and nearly struck another vehicle.
A traffic stop was initiated and upon making contact with Lanham, officers reportedly observed several signs of impairment. Officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from Lanham and saw an empty box of alcohol on the passenger seat.
He initially denied having drunk alcohol or smoking marijuana, but later admitted to drinking but, “not enough to be intoxicated”.
Field sobriety tests were not successful.
He was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department where he blew a BAC of .217.
Lanham was charged with two counts of OVI, no operator’s license, no seat belt, driving in marked lanes, smoking cannabis while in a vehicle, and open container.
He was initially released to a sober driver.
Later on, around 5:45 a.m. police were dispatched to a residence in the Brookstone Apartments at 500 Gunntown Road for a domestic dispute.
A victim told dispatch that Lanham had become violent and aggressive after arriving home from an OVI arrest hours earlier.
They told officers that Lanham had hit them several times, and also kicked them. Officers saw that the victim had a cut on their upper lip.
The victim also told officers that Lanham had hit two children in the home.
Lanham was arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail where he was lodged for domestic violence.
