Tony L. Beverly, 18, of 261 N. Main St., West Mansfield, was charged Monday with one count of burglary and faces possible additional charges related to three separate incidents investigated by deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched Monday to 24400 State Route 47, West Mansfield, near the Logan County and Union County line to meet with Brent Maxwell and his mother-in-law, Rebecca Miller, regarding a break-in of a recreational vehicle.
The pair said he was last at the RV during April, and he it appeared that since that time, people had been entering the RV and “having a party.” They found empty bottles of alcohol in the RV, and also reported that alcohol was missing from the vehicle.
Beverly was named as a possible suspect in the incident, and deputies went to the defendant’s address to speak with him, noting that he also was a suspect in two other recent burglaries.
Beverly agreed to speak with deputies, and said that he and another individual broke into the RV and stole alcohol. He said he and several teens consumed the alcohol later that night at his residence.
Deputies also questioned him about a previously reported burglary at the 308 E. Center St., West Mansfield, residence of April Lensman. He said he and two named juveniles had entered the home. He denied taking any items from the residence, but said the juveniles had taken cellular phones and a wallet from the residence. Lensman had reported four cellular phones missing from the home.
The defendant also was questioned about a May 22 break-in of a tractor owned by Jerry Regula, 2796 N. County Road 142, West Mansfield. Cigarettes and candy were reported missing from the tractor. He said he and another individual entered the tractor, and said the other suspect took the candy cigarettes.
Beverly was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
The defendant has had a number of run-ins with law enforcement in recent months in both Logan and Union counties.
Earlier this month, he was charged by a Union County grand jury with single felony counts of trespass into a habitation and receiving stolen property.
April 14, he was found inside a New Dover Mobile Home Park residence impersonating a volunteer firefighter.
