SIDNEY — A Sidney area man was arrested Wednesday morning just minutes after Sidney Police Department officers responded to an armed robbery at a gas station.
Michael A. Sloan, 22, was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and was incarcerated in the Shelby County Jail.
About 4 a.m., officers responded to the armed robbery at the Fuel Stop gas station, 125 W. Court St., Sidney. The suspect reportedly entered the business dressed in dark clothing with his face partially covered and brandishing what appeared to be a pistol. He then allegedly demanded money from the on-duty clerk, who complied.
The suspect then fled the store on foot and discarded some of his clothing and pistol as he ran.
Responding officers with the assistance from Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to locate the suspect. His clothing and the weapon, which was a BB gun used in the robbery, were recovered in close proximity to the gas station.
