Deputies issued a summons to William Shoots, 72, of 701 W. Columbus Ave., Bellefontaine, for an animal at large after receiving a report of a goat on County Road 9 near County Road 57 around midnight Tuesday evening.
Deputies have responded to a number of similar calls in recent years involving Mr. Shoots’ livestock.
Dryer fire prompts JDC evacuation
Bellefontaine Fire & EMS squad and engine responded about 11:25 p.m. Tuesday to the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center, 104 S. Madriver St., Bellefontaine, on a report of a fire in a dryer in the laundry room.
The fire was contained to the laundry room area, but detainees were removed from the JDC and transported to the Logan County Jail by deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office as a precautionary measure.
Detainees remained at the jail separated from adult inmates until this morning, when they were returned to the JDC and began their usual school coursework, deputies said There were no injuries.
Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour, and damage was estimated at $10,000. Insurance representatives and contractors were working to inspect and repair the laundry room damage this morning, deputies report.
