Riverside’s boys basketball team had no answer for Ft. Loramie on Saturday as the Redskins raced to a 69-40 win in Division III sectional tournament action at Piqua High School.
The Pirates end their season with a 7-18 record.
The third-seeded Redskins improve to 18-5 and face ninth-seeded Triad in the sectional semifinal on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m..
“I thought we got off to a really good start, but we were just going against an even better opponent,” said Riverside head coach Seth Bodenmiller. “Again, I cannot thank my seniors enough for the effort they gave this year in laying a good foundation for some of our younger guys. It’s pretty tough when you play your last game of the year, but I could not be more proud of everyone and the effort that they gave.”
Ft. Loramie took command early and led 17-8 after the first quarter. The Redskins went on to hold a 35-24 cushion at halftime.
The third quarter saw Ft. Loramie’s offense continue to pile up points with a 20-8 burst. That created a 55-32 advantage.
The Redskins capped the win with a 14-8 effort in the fourth quarter.
Trey Helmlinger fueled Riverside’s offense with 24 points and Tyler Sanford chipped in seven points.
