CLARK COUNTY — The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on State Route 72 at the intersection of High Street in the village of Clifton in Green Township.
Officials report at 1:15 p.m. May 24, an automobile driven by John E. Ford, 85, of Yellow Springs, was traveling eastbound on High Street, attempted to make a left turn onto State Route 72 and was struck in the driver’s side by a southbound vehicle driven by Jennifer M. Donovan, 32, of Xenia.
Mr. Ford exited his vehicle, but collapsed a short time later and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Donovan was transported to Greene Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash closed S.R. 72 for approximately two hours.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Greene County Sheriff’s office, Cedarville Police Department, Yellow Springs Police Department and the Miami Township Fire and EMS.
