SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has recently named their Trooper of the Year recipient, and the Springfield Dispatch Center also has recognized their Springfield Post Dispatcher of the Year.
Trooper Timothy Durham has been selected by his peers as the 2020 Trooper of the Year award, and Dispatcher Douglas Webb has received the Springfield Post Dispatcher of the Year and also the Piqua District Dispatcher of the Year for 2020.
Post Commander Lt. Brian K. Aller said fellow officers, dispatchers and supervisors stationed at the Springfield Post chose Trooper Durham based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.
“I am very proud to have Tim represent our post and the entire community we serve. He truly embodies what it means to be an asset to society and a Trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol,” Lt. Aller said.
Dispatcher Webb began his career with the Division in 2003 and has been assigned at the Springfield Dispatch Center. This award is decided through voting by his peers, co-workers, and supervisors at both the Springfield and Marysville Posts.
His common sense, work ethic, customer service, steadfast resolve and sensibilities made him “an obvious choice for both acknowledgments,” the post commander noted.
“I am proud to have Douglas represent our Dispatch Center, which includes Clark, Champaign, Union, and Logan counties. He embodies what it means to be a public servant, and is an asset to both the public and the Division,” Lt. Aller said.
“Douglas is always willing to go the extra mile to assist the public, a co-worker, a trooper, or a supervisor. He shows a sense of urgency when needed, but still remains calm in tense situations. Douglas is a picture of excellence and professionalism when it comes to dispatching.”
This is the fifth time Dispatcher Webb has been selected as the Springfield Dispatch Center’s Dispatcher of the Year. In 2019, he was named the Piqua District Dispatcher of the Year.
Trooper Durham joined the Highway Patrol in April of 2002 and has been assigned to the Springfield Post ever since. During his career Tim has earned Trooper of the Year in 2005, 2006, 2011 and 2016.
Trooper Durham has earned the Division’s prestigious “Blue Max” and “Ace” awards multiple times for apprehending suspects in stolen vehicles through the course of his duties. He has also earned Criminal Patrol Awards for numerous felony arrests throughout his career. His sincere nature has earned him numerous commendations from citizens who he has come into contact with, his post commander reported.
Prior to joining the Division, the trooper graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1990 and Wilmington College in 1994. He regularly presents information to our local youth regarding the dangers of opioid addition though Ohio’s “Five Minutes for Life” Campaign.
During the COVID crisis, Trooper Durham has helped with local schools, food banks, and Meals on Wheels, providing assistance to the community.
