Representatives from the Soteria House announced this week the shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault is the recipient of $1,000 Allstate Foundation’s Helping Hands in the Community Grant.
The grant will provide household items for clients when they move out of the shelter and into their own homes.
“Often victims of domestic violence have to leave everything behind when they escape an abusive relationship, so the grant from Allstate will help us give them a new start on life with needed household items to make any home run smoothly,” Shelter Program Director Debbie Brownlee explained.
Through the grant, the Allstate Foundation also is honoring the community service efforts of local agent Bev Dickson, whose office is located at 207 S. Main St., Bellefontaine.
“This grant is intended to benefit your organization as operating support or program funding where the Allstate agency owner volunteers,” Allstate representatives said in an e-mail to the Soteria House. “Thank you for partnering with Agent Bev Dickson. We extend our best wishes to you for continued success.”
