Bellefontaine’s varsity softball team improved to 2-0 on the season Tuesday with a 7-4 victory over host Lima Shawnee.
The Chiefs jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings. Shawnee scored two runs in the third inning to make it 4-3.
Bellefontaine plated three runs in the top of the fifth to increase the lead to 7-3. Shawnee added a run in the sixth to get within three runs, but that was as close as it would get.
Addison Wical and Averie Vigansky both went 2-4 to lead the Bellefontaine offense. Kassi Prine and Laila Butler both had a double.
The Chiefs are back in action today at Beavercreek.

Raiders win season opener
Benjamin Logan’s softball team rolled past visiting Franklin Monroe 10-3 on Monday in the Raiders’ season opener.
The Raiders pounded out 12 hits and allowed just two hits. Courtney Bowers and Kylie Harner each had two hits including a double and two RBI for the Raiders.
Bailee Stover had two hits and two RBI and Kyndal Cronkleton had three hits and an RBI. Chloe Crumm struck out nine batters in picking up the win in the pitching circle.
The Raiders travel to Kenton Ridge on Friday.

Pirates clip Bethel
Riverside’s softball team slipped past visiting Bethel 6-5 in a Three Rivers Conference opener Tuesday.
The Pirates are now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the TRC. The Pirates put five runs on the scoreboard in the second inning for a 5-0 cushion.
Bethel clawed back with one run in the fourth and three in the fifth to make the score
5-4. Riverside added a run in the sixth inning to increase the lead to 6-4. Bethel scored a run in the top of the seventh, but the Pirates were able to hang on for the win.
Taylor Dillon went 2-4 with two RBI to spark the
Pirates at the plate. Riley Dillon and Emilee Robinson each had an RBI. Keira Manahan was the winning pitcher. She allowed four hits and no earned runs while striking
out 10.
The Pirates will host Northridge on Thursday.
