Village looks to reduce limit on State Route 366
Russells Point officials seek to lower the speed limit from 35 to 25 mph along State Route 366 on the west end of the village.
Mayor Robin Reames said Monday in a regular meeting of the village council that she has applied for approximately $7,300 in grant funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation to conduct a traffic study to explore dropping the speed limit on S.R. 366 between Sunnyside Avenue and the west corporation limit, as well as to remove and cut back overgrown vegetation that crowds that mile or so stretch of roadway on the west side of the village.
Pedestrian and bicyclists safety is of concern, especially in the summer months, the mayor said. Lowering the speed limit and removing line-of-sight problems caused by overgrown vegetation will make it much easier for pedestrians and bike riders in that area during the warm months, she said.
