Skyleur Versele, 43, formerly of Bellefontaine, died Friday, June 2, 2017, in Columbus.
He is survived by a son, Landyn Sky Versele, of Roanoke, Va.; his parents, Jane (Doug) Hudson of Lakeview and Dennis (Bonnie) Versele of Bellefontaine; brothers, Forest (Mandy) Versele of Birmingham, England, Logan (Regan) Versele of Columbus, Chris (Chelsea) Versele of Cincinnati, Matthew Wildermuth of Bellefontaine, and Brad (Liz) Hudson of West Liberty; paternal grandmother, Peggy Dreger of New Baltimore, Mich.; nieces, Grace, Ruby, Violet and Eva Versele of Birmingham, England; nephews Shea, Wyatt and Remy Versele of Columbus; and Kayla, Luke, Gabbi and Joy Hudson of West Liberty.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Ron and Barbara Blakeslee of Roseville, Mich., and paternal grandfathers, Dennis Versele Sr. (Pam Stratton) of Arlington, Va., and Robert Dreger of New Baltimore, Mich.
He was born Oct. 30, 1973, in Rochester, Mich. Skyleur was a 1992 graduate of Bellefontaine High School where he excelled in football. He went on to play football at Wittenberg University and was an avid Michigan Wolverines fan. Skyleur was passionate about family and friends and was always the first to step in when someone was in need. He held a special place in his heart for individuals with special needs and was often referred to by his brothers’ friends as “everyone’s big brother.” Skyleur will be greatly missed by his family, especially his young son Landyn.
His brother, Forest Versele, will officiate funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Landyn Sky Versele Education Fund, c/o Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, or to the Dare to Be Aware Club (initiative for accessible playgrounds in Logan County), c/o of LCBDD, 1851 W. State Route 47, Bellefontaine.
