Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report a 91-year-old Sidney man was killed in a crash Monday morning in Stokes Township.
Ronald L. Laughlin was pronounced dead after the 11:53 a.m. crash at county roads 52 and 54. He transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.
Deputies report Laughlin was operating an eastbound Toyota Prius on C.R. 52 and stopped at the intersection. He reportedly failed to yield to a southbound semi tractor-trailer operated by Kirt D. Emerick, 50, of Lima, on C.R. 54,
The car was struck by the semi and both vehicles went off the southeast side of the intersection and the car came to rest in a ditch.
The semi continued southbound, struck a road sign and then went back across C.R. 54 and came to a final rest to the west side of C.R. 54.
No injuries were reported for Emerick. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, deputies said.
Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.
The Multi-County Crash Team responded and mapped the crash scene after both vehicles were removed from the scene. Deputies continue their crash investigation.
This is the eighth fatal crash in Logan County this year.
