After a year on the job, Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds has named his chief deputy.
Chris Prickett, who has worked the past year as a deputy under a domestic violence prevention grant and has been an auxiliary deputy since the mid-1990s, will assume the duties as the new year begins, the sheriff said.
Prior to his time with the sheriff’s office, Prickett, 55, of rural DeGraff, owned and operated Acrux Investigation Agency.
Sheriff Dodds said he selected him over other candidates from within the department largely because of his background as a business owner.
“Not taking anything away from the people who are here, I believe it’s important to look at people and see what strengths and weaknesses are and put them in the place where they can perform,” the sheriff said.
“I looked at Chris and a few others. He fits the mold. He has not only the law enforcement experience and has worked in the private security business, but the bigger thing I liked is that he has a business mind and ability to manage people.
