A deputy who had both the most OVI arrests and the biggest drug bust of the year received an award Saturday night along with a corrections officer credited with helping prevent drugs from entering the jail and several dispatchers, deputies and corrections officers who saved lives of Logan County citizens.

The awards, which are a first — at least in recent history — for the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, came after the end of Sheriff Randy Dodds’ first year on the job.
He said he wanted to do something special for the many deputies, dispatchers, corrections officers, administrators, jail cooks, social service workers and others who field 123,000 calls per year, tend to an average daily census of 100 adult prisoners and operate the only county juvenile detention center in the state.
“I’ve got a big family,” the sheriff said. “It’s a great team. Your office is only as good as the staff you’ve got working for you. These are dedicated public servants I’m proud to call part of my team.”
