Shady Bowl Speedway recently crowned its 2018 track champions during a ceremony in Bellefontaine.
Quincy’s Josh Smith dominated the Dave Nagel Late Model Series to earn the championship trophy. Smith was also named the driver of the year.
Bellefontaine’s Logan McPherson took the crown in the modified division and DeGraff’s Jason Purtee was the track champion in the hobby stocks.
Rodney Roush picked up his seventh track championship in the street stocks. Ryan Tamburro won the first track championship of his career as he claimed top spot in the ministocks and Jordan South received the first-place award in the spectator drags races.
In addition to the driver honors, the track recognized several people for their support of the speedway. Receiving those honors were Robin Korn, Elmer Schaeffer and John and Cheryl Stroble.
The local speedway also showcased a new category: Best Appearing Cars. Winners included John Stroble, Brad Yelton (with a car owned by Rick Eilerman), Chad Small II, Jimmy Huffman, Les Rhodes and Brian Brandyberry. Josh Sage won in the fan vote for Best Appearing, Greg Stapleton was the champion of the four-race Hero Series for the modifieds and Paul Hazlett won the Best Wrap award for his late model.
