The Raiders topped the host Tigers 139-126 to finish in first place at the 12-team meet. Carey finished third with 85 points and Allen East was fourth with 76 points. Indian Lake came in seventh with 62 points, Ridgemont was ninth with 17 points, Triad took 11th with nine points and Riverside was 12th with five points.
“I thought our guys did a good job of competing,” said Ben Logan boys head coach Kevin Butler. “It wasn’t the greatest conditions, but I thought the guys did a good job of staying focused on their events and performing well.
“I challenged them before we left to see if they could score 130 points, which I thought would be a tough, but realistic goal for this meet, and to see them exceed that goal was rewarding.”
In the girls team race, Carey held on for the win with 113 points. The Raiders were a close second with 108.5 points, W-Goshen was third with 94.5 points and Lima Bath took fourth with 79 points. The Gophers were seventh with 58 points, the Cardinals were ninth with 41 points, the Lakers were 10th with 18 points and the Pirates were 12th with one point.
“This was an outstanding team effort,” said Ben Logan girls head coach Mike Coder. “Our coaches challenged all of our athletes to step up their game, maintain focus and finish the meet strong. They did not use weather conditions as an excuse. They worked hard to compete throughout the meet. We are heading in the right direction.”
