A truck driver confused by road signs made a wrong turn and ended up damaging a power pole when he tried to double back to his original route Saturday.
Joshua A. Collig, 48, of Columbus, was cited for failure to control after the 10:55 a.m. crash, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
His tractor-trailer snapped off the pole in the 200 block of east Court Avenue.
He had been northbound on Madriver Street and turned eastbound on Columbus Avenue thinking it was State Route 540.
Realizing he made mistake, the truck driver pulled into and through Cafe 212’s parking lot at 212 E. Columbus Ave. onto Court Street to head west. He then tried to turn south into a Logan County parking lot.
Several buildings lost power and a transformer was pulled down.
A Bellefontaine Fire Department engine and squad responded to secure the scene for Dayton Power & Light Co. crews.
