Larry E. Smith, 65, of Omaha, Texas, was cited for failure to control related to a non-injury crash Friday morning on U.S. Route 33 at County Road 37.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating a southeastbound semi tractor-trailer about 10 a.m. when he attempted to make a right turn onto C.R. 37, and the trailer reportedly struck the stop sign at the intersection, knocking it down.
Damage was light to the semi’s trailer, and the driver was wearing his seat belt.
• Deputies also responded to another non-injury crash at the same intersection about 2:15 p.m. Friday Jenny L. Moore, 79, of Belle Center, reportedly was operating an eastbound car on C.R. 37 when she struck the rear of an eastbound sport utility vehicle operated by Jason Sepeda, 43, of Defiance, that was stopped at the intersection at U.S. 33.
Moore was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
The drivers and their occupants were wearing their seat belts. No damage was reported to the car, and the SUV sustained light damage.
• A failure to control citation was issued to Eric N. Simpson, 55, of Lakeview, related to a non-injury crash about 2:15 p.m. Sunday.
Deputies report he was operating a southbound car on Township Road 293 at Lewis Drive when he drove left of center and off the left side of the road. The vehicle then struck a tree in the front yard of 10880 Lewis Drive, causing heavy damage to the car.
The crash report indicates the driver was not wearing his seat belt, and that he may have started to fall asleep or fainted at the time of the crash.
