Area law enforcement and two restaurant establishments have partnered for recent efforts to provide some extra incentives for local residents to remember to buckle up when hitting the road during the busy upcoming summer season, in conjunction with the annual Click It or Ticket campaign, which kicks off today and runs through the end of the month.
Teen drivers at four area high schools were rewarded with a “ticket” of sorts for their diligence in wearing their seat belts during compliance checks conducted this month. Those found wearing their seat belts by deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department when they arrived at school received a coupon for a free food item from McDonald’s locations in Bellefontaine, 1127 N. Main St. or 1780 S. Main St.
Similarly on Friday, patrons at the Dairy Queen, 547 E. Sandusky Ave., Bellefontaine, also received a “ticket” for a free ice cream cone when found buckled up in the business’ drive-thru line by deputies and troopers of Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
“We wanted to use these opportunities as a chance to give a reminder to folks about the importance of seat belt safety as the roadways get very busy this summer,” Deputy Jeff Anspach said. “It’s nice to have these positive interactions with the students and the public, and we appreciate partnering with the local businesses.”
