Benjamin Logan Schools and Bellefontaine City Schools partnered Friday night to raise a total of $3,312 to donate to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in NYC through a recent T-shirt fundraiser.
Chieftain and Raider football fans were invited to wear their T-shirts to the Benjamin Logan vs. Bellefontaine game at Ben Logan that evening for a special night honoring area first responders for the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
First responders also were admitted for free into the game.
Student leaders from both schools greeted representatives from the following departments: Bokescreek Fire Department, BMRT Ambulance District, Tri-Valley Fire Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Bellefontaine Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Rushcreek Fire Department, Bellefontaine Police Department, Perry Township Fire Department and Richland Township Fire Department.
The honorees were presented with gift cards and thank you cards from Ron’s Pizza of Bellefontaine, Iron City Sports Bar and Dairy Queen of Bellefontaine.
During the halftime show, the marching bands from Benjamin Logan and Bellefontaine performed patriotic songs to commemorate the event.
