A Bellefontaine resident reported Wednesday falling victim to an online employment scam.
She told police she was hired to be a work-from-home administrative assistant. As part of the job, she received a check from the suspect for $2,350 and instructed to cash it and then send bill payments to various people via Western Union transfers.
Her personal bank account was depleted after the check turned out to be fraudulent.
Man violates CPO
Joseph R. Noriega, 33, of 1161⁄2 N. Main St., was charged Wednesday with violating a civil protection order after he sent Facebook messages to his ex-wife.
