Ruth Ellen Larry, 83 of Middleburg, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 in The Memorial Gables Nursing Home, Marysville, with her family by her side.
She was born Feb. 21, 1936 in Raymond, and was a 1968 graduate of Logan Hills High School. Ruth Ellen attended the New Hope Church for many years. She was a member of the Middleburg Mrs. Club and was a 4-H adviser for over 20 years.
Ruth Ellen and her husband, Charles “Doc,” were the previous owners and operators of the East Liberty Grocery. She loved working in her garden, taking care of her flowers and she never met a stranger. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Becca Dillon, Nancy Larry (Randy Stuart), Jayne Barnes, and Alexis (Jeff) Scheiderer; her son, Shane (Sabra) Larry; her sister, Janet Coleman; her brothers, Mack Watkins, and Tom Watkins; her grandchildren, Jennifer Foreman, Stephanie Ballard, Grant Foreman, Meghann Steele, Emily Barnes, Katie Barnes-Arnold, Ross Barnes, Zane Scheiderer, Yale Scheiderer and Nikki Hamilton; her great grandchildren, Dennis Williams, Jackson Foreman, Evan Laird, Chloe Ballard, Reagan Foreman, Harrison Steele, Elias Garcia, Natalie and Lauren Steele; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Avery and Mae (Tennant) Watkins; her husband, Charles “Doc” Larry; her son, Yale Larry; son-in-law, Chris Dillon; grandson, Cody Laird; and her brothers and sister, Carroll, Dale, Wayne and Ann Karen.
A memorial service to celebrate Ruth Ellen’s life will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at the Quest Community Church, 110 South St., West Liberty with Pastor Bill Walker and Rev. Jim Taylor officiating.
The family receives friends from 3 to 6 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice 779 London Ave, Marysville, Ohio 43040.
