Ruth E. Yoder, 97, of Goshen, Ind.,formerly of West Liberty, died at 4:58 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born Aug. 12, 1919, in West Liberty, to the late Oliver R. and Rose A. Stoltzfus Byler. She married Chalmer W. Yoder on March 5, 1944, in West Liberty and he died Oct. 24, 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Flora Kay (Victor) Martin, of Baltimore, Md.; granddaughter, Danielle (Ken) Floyd of New York City; a great-grandson, Christian Floyd; and brothers, Dr. Robert (Lora) Byler of Hagerstown, Md., Elmore (Cheryl) Byler of Hiawassee, Ga., and Ellsworth (Evelyn) Byler of White Pigeon, Mich.
She also was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Classen; and brothers, infant Richard Stoltfuz Byler, Floyd Byler, Frank Byler, Roy Byler and Dr. Arthur Byler.
She was a registered nurse, retiring in 1981. She was a graduate of LaJunta Mennonite School of Nursing and was a member of College Mennonite Church, Gideons Auxiliary International and the National Christian Embassy, Jerusalem.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, in the Koinonia Room, College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Ind., where calling is an hour prior to the service. Pastor Pamela Yoder officiates.
Refreshments follow in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be directed to Gideons International or Mennonite Central Committee.
