Rushsylvania is looking for new legal representation after the village council took no action on a resolution to renew the solicitor’s contract on Monday evening.
Attorney Natalie Bahan, a Bokescreek Township resident with a Bellefontaine legal practice, has filled the position for the past year.
Discussion of her position was conducted in an executive session, Village Clerk-Treasurer Diane Rader reported after the meeting.
When council came back from the closed door session, the resolution to renew the contract was presented, but no council member put forth a motion and the resolution was “declared dead.”
Council then made the decision to advertise in the Bellefontaine Examiner for the solicitor position. Any lawyer interested in filling the part-time position should send a resumé to the village at PO Box 204, Rushsylvania, OH 43347 by Feb. 1.
Also during the meeting, Mayor Phillip Wright and Council President Tim Rader, who were appointed to those positions at a special meeting in December, were sworn into their offices by Logan County Commissioner Tony Core.
The next Rushsylvania Board of Public Affairs and Council meetings are at 6:30 and 7 p.m., respectively, Monday, Feb. 6.
