Rushsylvania leaders learned two projects required by the state, including one to prevent lead contamination of water, are moving forward.
The project to identify copper and lead pipes throughout the village has been completed and the report was approved by the EPA, Clerk Diane Rader reports from Monday evening’s monthly Village Council and Board of Public Affairs meetings.
The mandate, which affects all municipalities throughout the state, was handed down by the Ohio Legislature last year as a response to the lead contamination that occurred in Flint, Mich., and Sebring, Ohio.
Properties in need of sewage backflow prevention devices have been identified throughout the village have been discussed with residents, as mandated by the EPA. Installation of some devices is under way.
