Indian Lake Middle School seventh-grader Regan Ross spelled beyond her grade level to win the ILMS 2017 Spelling Bee, successfully spelling the championship word “sophomore.”
Fifth-grader Isaiah Kirby earned the runner-up spot. Both Regan and Isaiah will represent ILMS at the Logan County Spelling Bee Jan.
23 at Riverside Schools. Paige Monroe, who took third place, will serve as the alternate.
During the ILMS spelling bee, it took nine rounds to eliminate the 20 other students who were chosen from their language arts classes to participate in the bee. Students were spelling words provided by the Scripps National Spelling Bee List.
