Outgoing mayor Robinson thanked for 14 years of service
Quincy’s newly elected mayor John Hickman was administered the oath of office by Council President Brian Carpenter during the council’s last meeting of the year Tuesday evening.
Hickman assumes his new role beginning Jan. 1, replacing outgoing mayor Dan Robinson, who has served in that position for 14 years.
Council members thanked Robinson for the many projects that he was involved in while serving the community. He was instrumental in helping the village apply and receive a $500,00 Neighborhood Revitalization Grant and is waiting to hear from the Logan County Commissioners regarding a $300,000 grant to replace a water line on Jefferson Street.
Mayor Robinson also was instrumental in hosting the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony by working with Civista Bank employees, along with inviting Santa for Quincy Christmas activities.
Robinson said he enjoys serving the community with the support of his family, and hopes to continue being a part of village activities in the future.
Information was reviewed regarding the pay scale for Village of Quincy for Solicitor Steve Fansler, who also serves two other villages. He currently makes $650 per month for the other villages and is receiving $500 per month from Quincy. He attends one Quincy Village Council meeting per month and performs outside work done in his office prior to these meetings.
Members reviewed several items regarding this issue and determined that $625 per month would be appropriate for the solicitor’s service, as $600 is the going rate for much less experienced service in Logan County. Fansler has served Quincy since 2008.
In addition, the results of a personnel/finance meeting was presented to council, with a suggestion of a 3-percent pay increase for the Village Administrator Kirk Helmandollar.
