Roland G. “Putt” Guider, 75, of Lewisville, passed away at his home Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015.
Putt was born in Hardin County on Jan. 19, 1940, a son of the late Kenneth and Mildred Warner Guider.
Putt is survived by a brother, Stephen Guider of West Mansfield; two sons, Gary Guider of Belton, Mo., and John Guider of Bellefontaine; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also has relatives in the Mt. Victory-Hardin County area.
Roland was known for most of his life as “Putt” which is likely related to the fact that he was very fond of John Deere 2 cylinder tractors that he would “putt” around on. He joined the Army Reserve 251st Transportation Company at Kenton and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
He lived for several years in Mt. Victory and worked for the Whirlpool Corp. before moving to Ridgeway and taking a job with HBD Industries Inc. at their facility in Bellefontaine.
Upon retirement from HBD, Putt relocated to Monroe County. Putt had a good sense of humor, was a life-long loyal Democrat, and stayed busy in his retirement, owning several residential rental properties in Woodsfield. He also traveled extensively to the Philippines and China.
He will be missed by the friends he made in Monroe County.
There is no visitation or service. Interment is at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements were handled by Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield.
