Rodney B. Schilling, 55, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at his home.
Rod was born in Sidney, Ohio, on May 17, 1966, to the late Richard L. and Clarbel (Jackson) Schilling. He was also preceded in death by a sister Beth Ann Schilling.
Rod is survived by his siblings: Rick Schilling of Lewistown, Brenda (Jerry) Baker of Maplewood, and Jennie Schilling of Chamberlain, South Dakota; a biological daughter Tristian Schilling Burnett of South Carolina; his former wife of 17 years, Rebecca Allen Schilling of Southaven, Mississippi; four stepchildren: Weston (Elizabeth) Strickland, Alyssa (Cameron) Ward, Samuel (Jocelyn) Strickland, and Victoria Strickland; four step-grandsons: Braydon, Hudson, Lincoln, and Luke; and nieces: Angie Schilling Ambos and Traci Schilling O’Linn, and nephews Luke Baker and Adam Baker.
A veteran of the US Army, Rod served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and had been stationed in Germany for five years. He had an associate’s degree in Information Technology, and Rod had worked at Midwest Express for 15 years, 3 years at Stratosphere, and most recently was working at Norcold in Sidney. Rod was a “Master Chef” for his family and shared his love of cooking. He cherished his time outdoors, whether he was trapping, hunting, or fishing. Rod also was an avid reader with a passion for bizarre trivial facts. With his former wife Rebecca, they were foster parents for 37 children between 2015 – 2021.
A Celebration of Rod’s life will be Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at Bellefontaine Grace Church, 2220 South Main St. (beside Lowe’s), where a time of visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Rod will be buried at Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco, at a later date.
