Jeanette Skidmore, 88, of Rushsylvania, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 23, 2022, at her son’s home.
Jeanette was born in Pike County, Kentucky, on September 26, 1933, to the late Con Joseph and Erie (Salyer) Ross. She married Charles “Jiggs” Skidmore on January 17, 1954, and he preceded her in death in 2011. Jeanette was also preceded in death by a son Randall Joseph Skidmore; 3 sisters: Neva Lee Ross, Emmeleen Ross, and Verna Imogene Ross; and a brother Emery E. Ross.
Jeanette is survived by her children: Beverly (Gary) Young of Zanesfield, and Chuck (Carol) Skidmore of Rushsylvania; daughter-in-law Jackie Skidmore of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren: Belinda (Ingo) McLean, Ryan (Jess) Young, Abby (Amanda) Young, and Jessica (James) Schaad; five great-grandchildren: Katie and Kristen McLean, Makayla and Jared Young, and Isaiah Clarke; four sisters: Lillian Houchin of Belle Center, Reva Johnson of Hamilton, Ohio, Linda Pifer of Kenton, and Sandra (Roger) Bullock of Belle Center; a sister-in-law Gracie Ross of Kenton; and several nieces and nephews. Jeanette is also survived by her fur-babies, Cody Bear and Sammie.
Jeanette was a graduate of Belle Center High School and worked in the kitchen at Benjamin Logan Elementary School for 31 years – long enough to serve lunch to all four of her grandchildren. She was a member of Belle Center Church of Christ and Rushsylvania Church of Christ and had been active with Rhoda Circle. Jeanette was a 4-H Advisor for many years and loved to garden.
A celebration of Jeanette’s life is conducted at noon Saturday, May 21, at the Rushsylvania Church of Christ, where the visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service at noon. She will be buried next to her husband in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center, at a later date.
