Robert W. “Bob” Wilson, age 89, of Union, formerly of Marysville, went home to be with the Lord, and his loving wife, Nellie, on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019 at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by his loving family. A butcher by trade, he was an associate of Kahn’s in Cincinnati for 10 years. For most of his career, he owned and operated Hofbauer Meats in Plain City from where he retired in the late 1980s. During his retirement, he worked in the automotive industry, ending his work career as an assembler with Honda of America. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
A veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Union. Known for his flamboyant personality and humor, he liked a good conversation, watching movies and television and loved spending time at “Nellie’s Nest” at Dale Hollow Lake in Byrdstown, Tenn. with his family and friends. He will be missed by his loving canine companion, Sammy.
He was born Oct. 22, 1930 in Oneida, Kent. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Sells Wilson, whom he married May 9, 1953, in Lawrenceburg, Ind.; daughter, Linda J. Wilson; father, William Wilson; mother, Grace Treadway; his brother, Joseph E. “Joe” Wilson; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Katie Edwards, Jim and Alma Smith, Jimmy Sells and Mel Basicker.
He is survived by his children, Sandy (Roger) Jordan of Marysville, Diana (Mark) McClintick of Raymond, Jerry Wilson of Marysville, Jeannie (Jeff) Eubanks of Union and John (Gena) Wilson of Marysville; grandchildren, Michelle (Doug) Wills and Michael Jordan, Nathan Kibbey, Tabitha (Darek) Isaacs, Tiffany Allegree, Abigail Wilson, Johnathan (Jessica) Eubanks, Joshua (Heidi) Eubanks, Jordan (Megan) Eubanks, Jennifer Eubanks, Jared (Ashley) Eubanks, Cole (Anna) Wilson and Kristen Wilson; step-grandchildren, Daric (Shannon) McClintick, Brad (Brittany) McClintick and Brett Wills; his great-grandchildren, Jordan, Evelyn, Jacob, Ethan, Hunter, Carly, Jonah, Piper, Makenzie, Madelynn, Mason, Grace, Liam and Lane; step-great-grandchildren, Shyanne, Savannah, Dalton, Sophia, Harlie, Halyn, Havannah and Harper; and many other loving friends and family, including his nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Patsy Ledbetter, Oleta Basicker, Bill (Betty) Sells, Judy Sells and Roger (Darlene) Sells.
Funeral services begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Dan Kincer officiates and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
