Robert Earl Mosier, 93, of Raymond, died Sunday morning Sept. 23, 2018, at his home.
He was born March 14, 1925, near DeGraff to the late Elmer Foraker and Rose Eleanor Black Mosier.
He married the former Dorothy Jeanne Stanfield,on Oct. 7, 1946, in the Rushsylvania home of her parents. She died April 13, 2011.
He also was preceded in death by siblings, Christina Eleanor Stanley and Leslie Elmer Mosier; and a granddaughter, Pamela Louise Hoover.
Robert was a veteran of WW II as a surgical tech, serving from July 13, 1943, to Jan. 24, 1946. He was in the South Pacific Western Theater, CO. B 306 Med Bn attached to the 81st Infantry Division known as the Wildcats. He was wounded in action at Leyte Red Beach Landing in October 1945 and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal World War II, American Theater Medal and Central Pacific Ribbon.
Robert was a farmer his whole life, drove school bus for Byhalia-York Schools and was a long-time rural mail carrier out of Raymond, retiring March 14, 1985.
After retirement he enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Europe, watching NASCAR and his driver, Rusty Wallace, and helping out at Mosier’s Marker in Raymond.
Surviving are his children, Robert Eugene (Jane) Mosier of Marysville, Nancy Jo (Bill) Wells of Richwood and Deborah Ann (Jim) Sheppard of Columbus; grandchildren, Penny (Marv) Guider, Wendy (Neil) Witchey, Stasia (Sam) Peake, Andy (Kristen) Mosier, Amy White, Cassie (Carlos)Trinidad, Jimmy (Amanda) Sheppard and Vicki (Brendon Lillie) Sheppard; great-grandchildren, Mandy Heth, Joe (Sierra), Tyler (Chelsea) and Katie Furer, Jesse, Jacob (Brooke) and Alison Mills, Megan Tinnerello, Neeli, Bryce and Kyler Torres, Eliza and Zane Mosier, Isabella, Sophia and Liam Trinidad, Eli Lillie and Emilia Sheppard; and great-great-grandchildren, Kyran, Alaina, Carter and Aubree Mills and Kahlin, Vaan and Lily Furer; a sister, Phyllis Irick of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Mosier of Bellefontaine; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, where calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. The Rev. Ronald Irick officiates and burial follows in York Cemetery, where mlitary honors will be conducted by Richwood area veterans.
