When the offense wasn’t firing on all cylinders Tuesday, Riverside’s softball team relied on its pitching and defense to secure a 4-0 win over visiting Lehman Catholic in Northwest Central Conference action.

The win improves the Pirates to 15-1 overall and 6-0 in the NWCC.
“We didn’t have a lot of offense tonight,” said RHS head coach Andy Phelps. “We hit the ball hard, but Lehman played good defense.”
The Pirates were aided by a standout effort from pitcher Lauryn Davis, who fired a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk.
“We had to rely on our defense for the win tonight,” said Phelps. “Lauryn was stellar pitching. When Lauryn is pitching like this, we don’t need a lot of offense.”
