Bellefontaine committed four errors and could not overcome those miscues in a 3-2 loss to visiting Kenton Ridge in a Central Buckeye Conference baseball game Tuesday at Blue Jacket Park.
With the loss, the Chiefs drop to 16-4 overall and 9-3 in the CBC. The Cougars improve to 10-5, 7-3.
The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and added a run in the third and another in the top of the fourth for a 3-0 advantage.
The Chiefs got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 3-1.
Bellefontaine pulled to within a run in the fifth at 3-2, but could not put any more runs on the board.
Bellefontaine finished with eight hits, but mustered just the two runs.
Tyler Jones went 3-4 with a double and an RBI to spark the Chiefs at the plate. Connor Burton added an RBI.
Tommy Belser went 42⁄3 innings on the mound and allowed four hits and two earned runs, while Cole Braun allowed just one hit and struck out two in 21⁄3 innings of relief for the Chiefs.
Bellefontaine returns to action Thursday at home against Benjamin Logan.
