Riverside’s girls basketball team had no trouble wearing down visiting Jackson Center on Thursday for a 36-20 non-league victory.
The Pirates improve their record to 12-4 on the season, while the Tigers tumble to 1-12 overall.
“I’m very proud of the girls,” said Riverside head coach Rod Yoder. “They played an excellent defensive game and we also rebounded well.”
Riverside was firing on all cylinders in the first quarter with a 13-4 run.
Jackson Center was able to control the second quarter with a 5-2 effort, but trailed the Pirates 15-9 at halftime.
Riverside was able to take back control in the third quarter with a 12-5 run, which stretched the lead to a 27-14 score. The Pirates closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 9-6 run.
Lauryn Sanford paced the Pirates with 16 points, Allison Knight scored eight points and Kirstin Schlumbohm added six points.
Riverside hosts Indian Lake on Monday in a local non-league contest.
