Richard “Dick” DeVere Nettleingham, 78, of Bellefontaine, went to be with his Lord and family at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born in Fairbury, Ill., on Sept. 1, 1939, a son of the late Melrose D. and Grace Ann York Nettleingham.
On April 22, 1972, he married the former Ruth Grace Cruver and they had 45 years of life together when she preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 2017.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard David Nettleingham.
Dick and Ruth blended two families into one. He is survived by their children, Joan E. Nettleingham, Dawn M. Nettleingham (Keith) Ryan, Gary C. (Robin) Smith, Belinda G. Savage and Melissa K. (Greg) Bohrer; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis (Rocky) Munson and Lois E. (Dr. Richard) Mayhue; one brother, Allen (Joann) Nettleingham; and many nieces and nephews.
Dick worked as an accountant for 50 years, and after retirement, he worked as a bus driver for Benjamin Logan Schools for 10 years.
He was a member of the Lewistown Trinity United Methodist Church and served as treasurer for many years. He was very active with AA and would have celebrated 36 years of sobriety in May. He loved quarterhorses, trail riding, reining, owning and training them in his younger years.
Pastor Barry Baughman officiates a memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Lewistown Trinity United Methodist Church in Lewistown, where visitation is an hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at the Pillar of Fire Cemetery in Zaraphath, N.J., at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
