Richard “Rick” Hensel, 69, of Bellefontaine, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Dayton VA Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 1, 1947, in Columbus, a son of the late Dick Hensel and Orabelle Lemaster.
Richard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Jane Lamb Hensel; his son, Donnie (Shelly) Hensel; daughters, Shannon (Abe) Kuhn, Michelle (Adam Thompson) King, Richelle (Ronnie) Houser, Denise (Art McKenzie) McKinney and Christy (Keith) Wolverton; brother, Thomas (Barb) Hensel; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Mary Jane Lamb and Jeff Lamb; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Rick cherished his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid race car fan, enjoyed fishing, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He will be sadly missed by all family and friends that knew him.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 21, at Jennings Farley Funeral Home & Crematory, 5591 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty. Private memorial services are at the convenience of the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the charities of the donors’ choices.
