Richard Elwin Clark, Jr., 63, of Bellefontaine, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2022, at his Bellefontaine residence.
He was born in Urbana, Ohio on April 22, 1959, the son of the late Richard Elwin Sr. and Voncella (Rogan) Clark. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Randy Clark.
He is survived by his brother, Eddie Clark and his sister, Twyla Clark, both of Bellefontaine, a niece, Te’a Breanna Clark and his great nephew, Nolan, and two aunts, Betty Lou (Clark) Rogan and Jean Rogan, both of Bellefontaine, and a host of cousins and friends.
Elwin was a 1977 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, where he excelled in sports. After high school, he attended The Ohio State University and then worked as the co-owner and co-operator of Ohio Sporting Goods Inc., based out of Urbana, Ohio. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield, where he belonged to the Kingdom Men Group and was a former member of Auburn Avenue Baptist Church in Bellefontaine. He was a true Buckeye and was a fan of the Miami Dolphins. For many years, he coached AAU girls’ basketball.
Pastor Ernest C. Brown will officiate a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Springfield. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311 and one hour prior to the service on Friday evening at the church. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
