Richard Allen “Rick” Kapperman, 66, of Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 15, 2020, at his home. The Lord came to him that morning, took his hand, and lead him to his final resting place.
Rick was born in Evansville, Ind., on Oct. 4, 1954, to Alvin Lowell and Patricia Ann Kapperman. He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister Kimberly Kapperman.
A veteran of the US Coast Guard, Rick retired in 1996, after twenty years of service to his country. Rick was a loving son, father, grandfather, and brother. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and he traveled to South Carolina several times a year to spend time with them. He enjoyed traveling and had taken cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, and the Panama Canal over the years. His last and probably favorite was an Alaskan Land and Sea excursion. Rick liked to golf, fish, and enjoyed the outdoors in general. He cared about the well-being of birds and wildlife and was proud to support the National Wildlife Foundation and the ASPCA.
Rick is survived by his children: Rebecca (Thomas) Brown, Elizabeth Kapperman, Andrew Kapperman, all of Charleston, S.C.; two granddaughters: Samantha and Fiona, and three grandsons: Jackson, Ty, and Dalton; his mother Patricia Dixon of Bellefontaine; siblings: Michael (Charlene) Kapperman of Mineral Bluff, Ga., Timothy (Laronda) Kapperman of Perry, Fla., Lisa (Jeffrey) Zell of Bellefontaine, and Joni Kapperman Cooney of Sarasota, Fla.; eight nieces and seven nephews.
Visitation will be at Parks Funeral Home in Summerville, South Carolina., on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 3 to 4 p.m. Graveside services and burial will be on Monday, Oct. 26, at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina, at 1 p.m.
