RASNICK |
Charles L. Rasnick, 38, at large, was arrested today for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, obstructing official business and failure to appear.
He also was cited for running a red light, speeding, expired license plates, expired registration, not using a safety belt, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and driving under suspension.
At 12:10 a.m., an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department was at Speedway, 329 S. Main St., fueling his cruiser when he observed a box truck northbound at an estimated speed of 50 mph in a 25-mph zone.
The officer got into his cruiser and pursued the truck. At Sandusky Avenue and Main Street, the truck ran a red light and nearly hit head-on a southbound vehicle in the left turn only lane on the other side of the intersection.
A traffic stop was made in the 300 block of north Main. Upon talking with the driver, the officer detected an odor of alcohol and noted the driver’s speech was slurred.
When asked, he told the officer his name was James, but provided an accurate Social Security number.
He was arrested on a Marysville Municipal Court warrant and taken to the Logan County Jail.
There field sobriety tests were performed which indicated the motorist was impaired by alcohol.
He has three prior convictions, one in 2013 and two in 2007.
A bottle of vodka was found in the truck.
