DIXON |
After a stellar career at Benjamin Logan, Garrett Dixon has earned the opportunity to play collegiate baseball at the University of Northwestern Ohio.
“I just really felt comfortable there,” said Dixon of his choice. “It is a smaller school and it’s not too far from home. It’s a good fit for me. “Ever since I started playing, I fell in love with baseball and knew I wanted to play it as long as I could. This has been a goal of mine for a long time.”
Dixon is the latest in a long line of Raiders to go on to a college program.
“It’s always a great feeling when you see one of your kids achieve their goals of playing at the next level, especially when you have been able to watch them develop over the past three years,” said Ben Logan head coach Scott Wilson.
A three-year varsity standout, Dixon is in the midst of an out-standing senior campaign. He currently leads the Central Buckeye Conference in batting with a .470 average and has accumulated 10 doubles, one triple and 15 RBI.
As a junior, Dixon received second-team all-Central Buckeye Conference honors after batting .385 with seven doubles and a team-best 21 RBI.
He broke into the Raiders’ varsity lineup as a sophomore and hit .343 with eight RBI.
“Garrett is a great contact hitter that goes gap-to-gap a lot for multiple extra-base hits,” said Wilson. “He will be a nice power hitting third baseman that UNOH will be pleased with his offensive output.”
