Bellefontaine’s baseball team gave state-ranked Jonathan Alder a battle Wednesday, but fell on the road 5-3 in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup.
The Chiefs drop to 6-10 overall and 6-9 in the league. The Pioneers, who are ranked 16th in the latest Division II state poll, improve to 15-4, 10-3.
Bellefontaine jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the Pioneers scored three runs in the second for a 3-1 advantage.
