Jacob M. Johnson, 23, at large, was charged Tuesday with theft and obstructing official business after ran from Tractor Supply Co., 1651 S. Main St., with nearly $140 in merchandise stuffed in the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt around 7:55 p.m.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department responding to the store spotted Johnson northbound along Main and ordered him to walk toward the officer’s cruiser.
Instead, the suspect ran west toward Detroit Street. He was soon apprehended further north after turning back to Main.
He had tossed the items which included knives, tools and radios, under a pickup truck prior to his capture.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail on the charges plus two felony warrants out of Shelby County.
