WILLIAMS |
A city man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old Huntsville girl early Monday.
Layne D. Williams, 18, was lodged just before noon in the Logan County Jail on charges of rape, illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and corrupting another with drugs.
The pandering charge typically means a suspect published or broadcast still images or videos of a minor. Bellefontaine Police detectives are not divulging what evidence they have collected at this point.
Clothing from the victim was collected and evidence has been submitted for forensic testing.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department learned of the alleged rape when the girl was taken by her mother to Mary Rutan Hospital late Monday afternoon.
She was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Advocacy Center which has trained staff to work with children who have been sexually assaulted. The Logan County Children’s Services also has provided assistance in the case.
The girl, who was in the city visiting a friend, was allegedly drugged by the suspect and then sexually and physically assaulted inside the suspect’s 208 W. High Ave. residence.
More charges are possible, detectives report.
