Riverside’s baseball team won its 12th straight game Friday by holding off visiting Ridgemont 7-5 in a Northwest Central Conference matchup.
The Pirates move to 12-1 on the season and are still unbeaten in league play at 9-0. The Gophers fall to 4-12, 3-7.
Riverside jumped ahead 3-0 after the second inning, but Ridgemont made a comeback and scored four runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Gophers added a run in the top of the fifth inning for a 5-3 score.
The Pirates regained control of the game by plating three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. That lifted them to a 6-5 advantage. They tacked another run in the bottom of the sixth inning and held off the Gophers the rest of the game.
Caleb Stevens powered the Riverside offense by going 4-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Landon Kelsey went 2-4 with two RBI with Dakota Bollinger and Tyler Sanford each adding one RBI.
