Riverside’s boys basketball team pulled off by far its biggest victory of the season Friday night.
Trey Helmlinger powered the Pirates with 24 points, four rebounds and three steals. Tyler Sanford tallied 19 points with seven rebounds, Kyle Knight had 10 points with six rebounds and Hunter Kreglow added eight points. |
The Pirates knocked off visiting Upper Scioto Valley 71-69 in three overtimes in a Northwest Central Conference game.
The Pirates are now 6-13 overall and 3-3 in the NWCC.
The Rams, who were second in the league standings entering Friday’s game, slip to 13-7 overall and 5-2 in the NWCC.
“Overall, this was a huge confidence booster for us,” said Riverside head coach Seth Bodenmiller. “Especially after losing to Houston at the buzzer on Tuesday. However, our work is not done yet, we have a big game (tonight) with Ansonia that we need to prepare for.”
