SPRINGFIELD — A pilot sustained only minor injuries after his airplane crashed about 2:30 p.m. Friday in Clark County.
According to troopers from the Clark County Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, John Studebaker, 75, of New Madison crashed his single-engine prop aircraft into the field at a local nursery.
Witnesses report the plane lost power shortly after taking off and landed hard. Damage was heavy to the aircraft.
The pilot was transported to Grandview Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The owner of the plane is listed as Kozak Valentine of Vandalia.
The FAA is investigating. Bethel Township EMS assisted Clark County sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
