Phyllis Nell Scudds, 92, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 6, 2021, at Belle Springs Nursing & Rehab.
Phyllis was born in Bellefontaine on April 30, 1928, to the late Grover and Mabel Shafer. She married Harold F. Scudds on Aug. 21, 1949, in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1994. She was also preceded in death by six siblings: Preston Shafer, Ruth Ruhlman, Grace Funk, Charles Shafer, Richard Shafer, and Evelyn Hanson.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Bronwyn (William) Skidmore of Bellefontaine, Brian (Jody) Scudds of Columbus, Brad (Kathleen) Scudds of Bellefontaine; eight grandchildren: Matthew, Skidmore, Adam Skidmore, Nathan Skidmore, Alan Scudds, Alison Scudds, Dawn Snipes, Brian Scudds, and Samantha Scudds; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis worked for 15+ years at Vicario Shoe Store. She was a member of Kings Daughters and the Methodist Church. Phyllis enjoyed watching Ohio State football and Cincinnati Reds baseball. She was very proud of her home and had hoped for it to one day be on a magazine cover.
A graveside service will be Friday, Feb. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
