Deputies spoke with a Huntsville area man Tuesday, who reported that he had been the victim of a telephone scam.
The victim said he received a phone call Saturday and the caller informed him that his computer had been hacked and the caller was “willing to refund the security features he had purchased” from a company called VSK Support. The resident said he believed the story to be true because he recently had purchased security features from this same company.
He was instructed to purchase two iTunes gift cards totaling $200 and provide gift card information to the caller, which he did.
The resident stated he also contacted VSK Support that day and they did not have any knowledge of this incident.
