Peter P. Zimmerman, 74, of Urbana and formerly of Upper Sandusky, passed away at 5:41 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana.
He was born in Marion on April 16, 1942, to the late Burton B. and Mary L. Paul Zimmerman.
Pete married Elaine Ruth Spurlock, and she preceded him in death in 1997. He later married the former Betty Lynn Mardis on June 7, 2007, in Xenia, and she survives, along with four children, Paula Louise (Jamie) Zimmerman-Brown, Adam Carroll Zimmerman, Nicholas (Heather Faulder) Miller and Joni (Frank Aultman) Miller; seven grandchildren, Tanner Brown, Toby Miller, Leota Miller, Ryan Miller, Jalyn Groves, Rick Groves and Nathaniel Groves.
A U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, Pete retired as a security guard from Rodbat in East Liberty. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky and the VFWs in Kenton and Upper Sandusky.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 8, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine. Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a graveside service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dayton National Cemetery.
